Pick-up from your hotel lobby and depart on a 2 hrs journey to Kinabalu Park Headquarters. Collect your packed lunch.
Proceed to the Sabah Park to assign you a mountain guide and apply for your ID TAG. Remember to wear your ID TAG at all times.
You’ll then be transferred to starting point – Timpohon Gate – where your climb begins! The Timpohon trail will take you through mossy forest of mixed bamboos and tree ferns, Borneo’s most unusual pitcher plants, waterfall and even squirrels, tree shrews and birds that seem so unafraid of climbers.
After approximately 2 – 3 hours climb, you will arrive at Layang-Layang, where the scenic Mesilau Trail meets the Timpohon Trail at 2,740 m. You will take another 2 – 3 hours to descend from Layang-Layang to Timpohon Gate. Arrive at Timpohon Gate and transfer to Kinabalu Park. Transfer to Kota Kinabalu City. Journey takes approx. 2 hrs. The area around the market town of Tuaran is home to the Dusun tribe. They live spread out in the hills and coastal plains making use of the natural environment for sustenance. They spend their days farming rice, rubber, fruits and coconuts as well as hunting in the forests and fishing from the rivers. They are some of Asia’s most friendly and resourceful people.
Our day ride takes us through the heartland of the Dusun people. We cycle through small riverside villages, jungle plantations and onto the coastal plain where we will end the ride at the Linangkut Cultural Village for a traditional lunch. Forty percent of this ride is on dirt roads and which can be quite rough. For the rest of the ride, we travel on small village roads with very little traffic. There are three hanging bridges to add to the day’s excitement

The Kinabalu National Park is located in Sabah, approximately an hour and a half drive from the city of Kota Kinabalu. Covering an area of 754 square kilometres, the highest mountain in South East Asia called Mount Kinabalu is located here.This granite mountain is 4093 metres above sea level and is the focal point of this park.
There is an abundance of flora and fauna in this park. The diversity of plant life which has been preserved hundreds of years ago make it a worthwhile visit. Remember to bring along your camera to capture some of the amazing plants such as the pitcher plant and white necklace orchid. There are over 1,200 species of wild orchids which you may have bypassedwithout knowing it.

The Botanical Garden is located at the end of the park; many plants and herbs planted for display. The walking path is mostly tarred, and is relatively flat. Then transfer (ETD 1230) back to your hotel.

Klias Wetland is the biggest wetland reserve in the state and is home to varieties of flora and fauna. The rare and elusive long nose and bulging belly proboscis monkey is found here. The very agile and wild silver leaf monkeys as well as naughty macaques are also abundantly found here. Other wildlife such crocodiles, monitor lizards, varieties of coastal bids, Borneon bats can be observed. Pristine riverine vegetation dots the Klias river. As you ride the river, encounters with villagers either net casting or hand line fishing for river prawns is an exciting experience. Sun set in the river is also a spectacular affair. Get your cameras ready for a production of psychedelic of colours. As dusk sets in, along the Klias River banks, millions of fireflies are found flickering their wings and igniting flashes of lights like Christmas trees.
Depart from hotel for one and a half our drive to the Klias Wetland Forest Reserve. Upon arrival at the jetty, welcome drinks will be served consisting of coffee or tea and locally made cakes.
Commence your river cruise in search of the proboscis monkeys and other wildlife. After about 01 hour cruising, return to the jetty for your traditional Malay dinner. As dusk sets in and after dinner, go back for boat cruise to observe the spectacular display of lights by the fireflies. At 1930Hrs, drive back to Kota Kinabalu city hotel.
